PEMF Therapy for Thyroid

Human Thyroid

Thyroid diseases have become a significant health issue for many Americans. According to the American Thyroid Association (also known as ATA), more than 12% of Americans will develop some form of thyroid condition during their lifetime.

While many treatments are successful, some thyroid conditions result in lifelong conditions and symptoms. There’s clearly a need for supplemental therapy to aid in the recovery process for those with thyroid problems. Luckily, that’s where PEMF therapy for thyroid conditions come in.

PEMF Therapy and the Human Thyroid

Numerous studies have been conducted throughout the years that show the benefits of pulsed magnetic therapy, and thyroid conditions can be similarly treated by PEMF.

PEMF therapy is capable of restore thyroid function for both overactive and underactive master glands. PEMF specifically targets mitochondria, which produces adenosine triphosphate (ATP) energy within the body’s cells.

The thyroid require a significant amount of ATP in order to do its job, and a lack of ATP could result in thyroid dysfunction. In addition to providing ATP, PEMF can also help with swelling or pain which are caused by inflammatory thyroid diseases.

There are also significant use cases for thyroid cancer, specifically. One particular study on pulsed electromagnetic field therapy and cancer from 2016 tested how effective PEMF therapy was on a variety of cancer types, including thyroid cancer. This resulted in patients having no side effects from the therapy sessions and that some of the patients experienced immunomodulatory effects, leading to an increase in tumor necrosis via the activation of proapoptotic pathways.

“PEMFs have also an immunomodulatory effect, as supported by in vivo evidence showing an increase in tumor necrosis factor alpha levels that induce an anti‐tumoral response, leading to the activation of a proapoptotic pathway induced by caspase‐8 interaction with Fas‐associated death domain, in the spleen of the murine melanoma mouse model after a 16‐day therapy,” the study reads, “ Changes in blood pressure, skin electrical resistance, and pulse amplitude in 163 oncology patients exposed to tumor‐specific PEMF frequencies have also been reported suggesting that PEMF therapy does not only target neoplastic cells, but may also have systemic effects.”

This is interesting news in terms of therapy, as it seems as if PEMF therapy can target specific diseases or illnesses while providing overall health benefits to other parts of the body.

Part of the reason that PEMF therapy is so popular and exciting in the world of healthcare is that it is non-invasive, safe, non-toxic (especially in the case of cancer patients) and can be combined with other therapies. In a world where thyroid problems are hard to treat, these are very exciting findings.

Thyroid Conditions That PEMF Therapy Could Treat

PEMF therapy can aid in the treatment of a wide variety of thyroid conditions, including:

  • Thyroid cancer
  • Thyroid nodules
  • Hypothyroidism
  • Goiters
  • Graves’ disease
  • Hashimoto’s thyroiditis
  • Thyroiditis
  • Silent thyroiditis
  • Papillary thyroid cancer
  • Medullary thyroid cancer
  • Hurthle cell thyroid cancer
  • Follicular thyroid cancer
  • De Quervain’s Thyroiditis
  • Anaplastic thyroid cancer
  • Additional diseases that result in thyroid dysfunction as a symptom

It’s important to note that PEMF therapy alone may not be as effective in fighting or treating some of these conditions.

A diet rich in iodine, specialized treatment, chemotherapy, and other treatments should be used in conjunction with PEMF therapy, depending on the specific health condition one has.

Frequencies That Work Well for Thyroid Care

According to a research review about PEMF therapy and thyroid cancer, from 2017, it was found via clinical trials that PEMF therapy applied to the brain at a frequency of 10 Hz resulted in improved thyroid levels.

Another research study in 2010 determined that five sixty-second 1 hz treatments on the brain resulted in significant thyroid-stimulating hormone levels. It seems as if low frequencies tend to have better results in terms of thyroid care.

Setting a frequency on a PEMF device is incredibly easy and not difficult to change. In fact, those who are using these devices for general relaxation and recovery can adjust to a frequency that is very comfortable with ease.

Now that we know the benefits and science behind PEMF therapy for thyroid problems, it’s time to think about where to buy a PEMF device from.
