"There are numerous studies which deal with the effects of Pulsed electromagnetic fields on various types of fungal infections. Pulsed electric and pulsed electromagnetic fields have even been shown to have potential applications in other industries such as the wine and fruit juice industries where PEF’s were shown to reduce fungal growth and thereby prevent spoilage of products.

In terms of biological applications, we would like to focus on the following studies:

In a study focused on Trichophyton rubrum, a fungal infection most often responsible for athlete's foot, fungal infection of nail, jock itch, and ringworm, researchers found that pulsed electric fields of 1Hz, in combination with antifungal medications itraconazole, terbinafine, and naftifine HCl, in the study case, resulted in full inactivation of the T. Rubrum colonies studied.(1)

Another study, focused on researching the influence of PH and the use of pulsed electric fields in combination with medication to help the sensitization of drug resistant strains of candida to antifungal drugs. This study found that PEF at a low pH increased the sensitivity of initially resistance C. Albicans to terbinafine and naftifine.(2)

And finally, a study done on 15 strains of candida, isolated from patients, were tested for their susceptibility to miconazole after exposure to electromagnetic fields. The study showed that an increased susceptibility to miconazole occurred from the second week of exposure to electromagnetic fields of 3Hz and 12.5Hz at a strength of 2mT and 9mT. The study concluded that low frequency PEMF for a period of at least two weeks, in conjunction with miconazole, could possibly be beneficial for the treatment of Candida.(3)".

Studies on the effects of PEMF therapy on our bones

Bone Fractures: A group of 83 adults with non union fractures were examined for the effects of bone grafting and pulsed electromagnetic fields for this study. Results showed a successful healing rate of 87 percent in the original 38 patients treated with bone grafts and PEMF for non union fractures with wide gaps, misalignment, and synovial pseudarthrosis. Of the 45 patients that were not successfully treated with PEMF and had bone grafting, when re-treated with pulsing electromagnetic fields, achieved a 93 percent success rate. Using Manual Entry and the Sweep Generator in Element ZX

As new studies emerge with PEMF, you will have the ability to enter your own single frequencies or sweeps with Element ZX. It is VERY easy to do.

To enter Manual Entry Mode, click the Checkbox in the app, as shown below.

Once checked, you will be able to run frequencies on the timer and set the level, just like you did in Preset mode. There is and additional option for waveform selection as well (experimental puposes).

Once Manual Entry Mode is checked, you will see two input boxes for entering frequencies, as shown below.

NOTE: You can run frequencies up to 2500 Hz

If you only want to run a single frequency, enter it in the top box and leave the second box empty. It will run for the duration of the time that you have set.

If you want to SWEEP through a range of frequencies, enter frequencies in the top and bottom entry fields. If the first frequency is lower than the second frequency, it will sweep up through the time that you select. If the first frequency is higher than the second frequency, it will sweep down.

To exit Manual Entry Mode, uncheck the Manual Entry Mode check box and the app will return to Preset Mode.
